Hello,

The error messages strongly suggest that this is texinfo issue.
However I cannot tell whether it is due to a bug in texinfo itself
or to the texinfo document to compose ?
Hilmar can provide further insight ?

I can confirm the build failure. I can further confirm that downgrading automake to 1:1.18.1-4 (the version from testing) solves the issue. So I guess there is again an issue in the texinfo.tex, which is pulled in by automake.

As next step I would try to use the latest version of texinfo.tex from
https://https.git.savannah.gnu.org/git/texinfo.git/ , i.e. building a new automake package, w/ texinfo.tex patched and test again.

Could you take over?

Upgrading the texinfo.tex to that one from the texinfo repo does not solve the issue, meanwhile downgrading to that one from texinfo in Debian unstable does. I guess we have to go deep and find an issue in the texinfo.tex from savannah, provided the blitz++ document is syntactically OK (which I would assume for now).
