That's certainly very strange. Do you happen to have /usr mounted
'nosuid' or something like that? What is the output of


  ls -l /usr/bin/pmount
  cat /proc/mounts

for you?

Oh, crap. /usr was indeed mounted nosuid. I will wear the dunce hat and sit in the corner now.
