Could you give sufficent information for people to try to reproduce the bug? For example, you mention that you use "dovecot" but "mutt accesses the mail files directly". This is not very clear. Is "dovecot" accessing the mail box at the time of the crash? What are the permissions? How large are these mboxes? Provide some way in which someone else can try to re-construct the crash.
