Stefan, the problem here is that you depend on a series of python2.3-specific packages (python (>= 2.3), python2.3-crypto, libxml2-python2.3), but then you also depend on python-gtk2 and python-gnome2, which don't specify which version of python they depend on. The current python-gtk2 package *still* doesn't say what version of python it requires, so previous versions probably didn't either; the current python-gnome package has a dependency on python (>= 2.3), python (<< 2.4), so it appears to work correctly on upgrades, but historical versions may have been broken.
