Hi

I have not yet found out how it happens (i found and removed all
teh xmodmaps from earlier gnome-keyboard-properties) but the
ISO_Level3_Shift comes from gnome .

I have dig in xfree86 and they have fixed alt_g for all keymaps
(there was a few inconsistencies before ) so if other desktop
like kde don't broke the keymap too it may be better keeping the
alt_gr binding. However if there is an alternative (fixing
GSSecondAlternateKey) it would be great to have it ... I don't
expect to have time to find out what gnome does and get it fixed
in debian before sarge ...

By now my guess is gnome made a cache of the map before it was
fixed

Well i guess the xkeyboard-config package will magically fix all
those keymap incompatibilities , but it won't be ready for sarge
(some pacakges still depends on obsolete xlibs which it replaces)

Regards
Alban
