Hi, I found a compatibility issue in pgf that was acknowledged by the author who also provided a solution at http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=Pine.LNX.4.64.0707030737310.10063%40wr-linux02&forum_name=latex-beamer-users I tested the solution suggested there and could also provide a patch for the package itself.
