This should not be a problem. There is a "default configuration" which is automatically set in the absence of a config file. However, I am mystified since this default configuration does not include any "tail" configuration. > But anyway, error message could've been more helpful. There could have been some punctuation between "tail" and "logfile" but the error message is reasonably accurate. It says that the "tail" command to "conky" is trying to tail a file (logfile) that does not exist or you do not have permissions to read it. Perhaps you could run "strace -o /tmp/conky.strace conky" and send the output to the bug list. So far the bug continues to be unreproducible.
