Package: transmission
Version: 0.6.1.dfsg-1
Severity: normal

When transmission is not closed properly during the previous session,
transmission will check existing files. If you have 30 torrents, that
means 30 threads that use almost all disk IO and surpress other
programs.

It is more efficient when the torrents are checked one-by-one, because
downloading can start earlier on most of the torrents.

This might actually be a wish-list item but with more then 10 torrents
the system really almost 'hangs'.
