Package: mplayer Version: 1.0~rc2-7 Severity: important mplayer currently defaults to using OSS for audio output. This breaks sound for any other programs running on the same computer in the most common configuration of system that we see today (a simple sound card without hardware mixing capability).
This is because after mplayer opens the OSS-emulation device /dev/dsp, no other program may open any other audio devices (native ALSA devices or OSS emulation ones) until mplayer closes the device.
