thanks for sharing your thoughts about 4digits maintenance.
As you correctly notice, the package has been removed because it does not
currently have a Debian maintainer. Also, it never has been part of a stable
release. It is this in part this latter criterion that leads to a comparatively
short span of searching for a new maintainer before removing it.

While the removal cannot be "undone", 4digits can always be reintroduced in the
same way NEW packages enter Debian.
