It is is safe to assume that it doesn't break other powerpc64 machines, since all the config options are machine specific. But for it to work, it would need to be tested, maybe aurelien can have a try on the PS3 ? I CC him, but otherwise, it would be nice to just apply the patch, so that kernels are built with it, and we can test them. There is i think some bootwrapper issue which needs to be solved, but the same vmlinux elf kernel should be used for both.
