I've found better workaround: "modprobe nfsd" in /etc/init.d/nfs-common before start of idmapd solves the problem. Also, the problem is solved by adding "nfsd" to /etc/modules. I have not try this workaround with etch -- only with lenny, but I guess it should work for etch as well. -- Alexandra N.
