Hi,

|$ xmms2-launcher
|Log output will be stored in /home/jani/.cache/xmms2/xmms2d.log
|xmms2 started
|$ xmms2-launcher
|Log output will be stored in /home/jani/.cache/xmms2/xmms2d.log
|startup failed!
|$ grep -C1 xmms2-launcher .bashrc
|
| if [ -f /home/jani/.config/xmms2/xmms2.conf -a -x /usr/bin/xmms2-launcher
] \
|            && ! pgrep xm[m]s2d >/dev/null ; then
| xmms2-launcher | egrep -v \
| "^xmms2 started$|^Log output will be stored in
/home/jani/.cache/xmms2/xmms2d.log$"
|$

Since xmms2-launcher's "main feature is that it does not exit until the
IPC system of XMMS2 is available" (from manpage), I wish for
xmms2-launcher to be more script-friendly, in particular
1) not producing any output when succesfully starting xmms2d
2) exiting succesfully (and quietly) if xmms2 is already running.
If you don't want those as default behaviour, command-line switches to
achieve them would of course also satisfy me.

regards,
    Jan
