for me no problem, as mentioned in the reports of bug below:

that python-mode indeed has no emacs22 listed as
alternative in depends, so you would need either force depends or have
emacs21 or emacs-snapshot (pretty much emacs23 now) installed

so, in general, python-mode seems to lack some care from the maintainer
atm, and that is the major problem of it.
