Here too... > Some questions: > *) Does this happen when you open mutt or only when you switch mailbox? Open and switching... I have encountered a grave bug... I have more then 3000 unread messages in my mailfolders... It seems that it has something to do with the malloc() bug... Explanation: I have for each mailinglist ony mailfolder like imaps://mail.private/INBOX.ML_debian.devel/ INBOX.ML_debian.mentors/ INBOX.ML_debian.user-german/ all of those mailfolesr arein "mailboxes" with mailboxes =.ML_debian.devel/ mailboxes =.ML_debian.mentors/ mailboxes =.ML_debian.user-german/ I have MANY "mailboxes" (exactly to files of 213 for the technic mailinglists and 592 the standard one). Now while mutt is checking for new mail in the boxes. Courier-Imap move automaticaly messages from the /new/ folder to the /cur/ folder but unread. Now if mutt crash because the malloc() bug it lost its memory and forget that there are messages unread... This sound weird, because the "mark_old=no" and should only affect mutt, if it read the Maildir physicaly... However it seems to be a misunderstanding between courier and mutt about unread unread messages since thunderbird, "libnet-imap-simple-perl" and "uw-imap-client" do the right thing. The same happen to my BTS account, in which I subscribed to any packages I have installed on any of my computers... 687 source packages! > *) Are your messages shown as Old when you go back to the previous > mailbox even if mark_old is set to no? No, if I go manualy into the mailfolder they are shown as NEW. > Please attach your .muttrc. Goog luck, I will attach the whole .mutt/ directory as TAR archive... > By default mark_old is set to yes, so I'll downgrade the severity to > 'normal', but don't worry your bug will be worked as the others. If I set "mark_old=yes" it is the same effect... and if I enter the folder manualy I can not use <TAB> to switch to the next unread messages because they are marked "O" and not "N"... This setting is definitively not what I want. Imagine, you have a folder with Business-Mail which comes in the box INBOX.Business/ Now you have gotten a new contact and setup a new filter and move the message into it... Now you have to search some other messages maybe stored in another folder and move it to the new created folder. And what happen now? -- any other UNREAD messages in the Business folder are not more recognized as unread and if you switch into the folder manualy, you see, the messages are definitively marked as NEW "N" This mean you can not more switch back to the folder using a simple "c<ENTER>" (next folder with unread messages) which sould be the first of your "Business" structure...
