Good question. It is /usr/bin/gnome-www-browser which is links to /etc/alternatives/gnome-www-browser which is link to /usr/bin/iceweasel or /usr/bin/epiphany-gecko (depending of "update-alternatives --config gnome-www-browser" configuration. So my first statment isn't exactly correct. Probably gnome should additionally ship /usr/bin/gnome-preffered-www-browser and register as default as alternative for gnome-www-browser, mayby with fallback mechanism if gconf key isn't present (very rare) this gconf key which I posted in first is changed by "System->Preference->Preffered applications" utility (/usr/bin/gnome-default-applications-properties) Currently for example syplheed mail client on default lanuches sensible-browser, which detects that we are using X and Gnome, so it launches gnome-www-browser, which launches epiphany on default. This completly ignores fact that i have configured Opera or anything in gnome-default-applications-properties. Of course in sylpheed's preferences one can change external command which is used for http URL's but for most users it's not so simple. Regards, Witek -- Witold Baryluk
