Package: rpm
Version: 4.7.1-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The updated rpm package fails to install, reporting some sort of
incompatibility with a previous version. Attempts to remove or purge it
would remove various other packages, such as lsb or alien.

A package failed to install. Trying to recover:

The output would imply that the configure script is choking on a missing
RPM database. This database, if missing, should either be created or
ignored during installation instead of causing installation to fail.
