Package: etherboot Version: 5.4.3+dfsg-0.2 Severity: wishlist please consider packaging etherboot with a separate package for roms useful to qemu or kvm.
currently, qemu (and maybe kvm?) ship roms by adding etherboot as a build-depends and copying the roms into the package, but this makes it hard to properly track which source package the etherboot roms actually came from. it would be better if a package were available that could use the roms directly. a separate package that included uncompressed versions of the following binaries would be most useful: /usr/share/etherboot/e1000-82540em.rom /usr/share/etherboot/ne.rom /usr/share/etherboot/pcnet32.rom /usr/share/etherboot/rtl8139.rom most other roms aren't really useful to qemu/kvm, so i don't see much reason to split those out. thanks! live well, vagrant -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable'), (102, 'unstable'), (101, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash etherboot depends on no packages.
