The proper way to do that would be to add a bunch of binary packages libfftw3-mpi-*. That's a bit of work though, and as I am ready to upload 3.2.2-1, I am not going to make this change just now. Another thing I am concerned with is the time to build as well, since fftw3 already times out on some arches.
