Hi, smbclient fails when using a ip address to connect to. Like so: smbclient -Uusername -I123.123.123.123 -Lnbname According to the debugging messages with the -d10 flag smbclient tries to resolve the netbios name in the usual order defined in smb.conf (lmhosts, hosts...) but does not connect to the ip address specified on the command line. It then fails with NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.36.0-web100 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages smbclient depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcap2 1:2.19-3 support for getting/setting POSIX. ii libcomerr2 1.41.12-2 common error description library ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.8.3+dfsg-4 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries - k ii libk5crypto3 1.8.3+dfsg-4 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries - C ii libkrb5-3 1.8.3+dfsg-4 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libldap-2.4-2 2.4.23-7 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpopt0 1.16-1 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libreadline6 6.1-3 GNU readline and history libraries ii libtalloc2 2.0.1-1 hierarchical pool based memory all ii libwbclient0 2:3.5.6~dfsg-3 Samba winbind client library ii samba-common 2:3.5.6~dfsg-3 common files used by both the Samb ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime smbclient recommends no packages.
