One final test: if you use beep_mode=2 (instead of beep_mode=0) and use your usual mixing app, can you cause the beep to go away (i.e., is there a control for that)? Depending on the answer, I think we should: * use beep_mode=2 and find some way to advertise (release notes?) that the mixer can be used to turn the beep on and off, or * keep using beep_mode=1 and find some way to advertise that adding a .conf file to /etc/modprobe.d with options snd_hda_intel beep_mode=0 will turn the beep off. And if there is some sysfs way to change the setting at runtime, that would be worth advertising, too. Meanwhile I also think it would be a good idea to turn pc speaker beeps in general off by default, but that's a separate story (and probably should be filed as a separate bug). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
