  So, what if you don't make seahorse export its socket in GPG_AGENT_INFO ?

  And, if seahorse is meant to provide gpg-agent functionality why doesn't
support S/MIME ? Looks more a problem with seahorse than the smime-plugin.

  Gnome doesn't depend on seahorse, the gnome-desktop-environment metapackage
just installs it, but you can remove seahorse and gnome-desktop-environment
packages and still have Gnome.
