Michael Biebl suggested other solutions for avoiding using rcS at all and maybe it would be better to get rid of /etc/init.d/uptimed.sh (and only use /etc/init.d/uptimed)....
The uptimed init script could issue "uptimed -b" when there's no uptimed stamp file in /run (and skip it when one exists), and then create the stamp file (which will vanish on next reboot). Another option would be to use btime from /proc/stat as bootid and get rid of the entire "uptimed -b" mechanism... -- Andreas Henriksson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
