Might also be worth asking on debian-u...@lists.debian.org if anyone has tried installing on a 2011 iMac. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for testing. As you saw with e.g. the "co" bug, we're not at a stage in the release cycle when the installer is completely polished yet. So at the moment, using the squeeze installer and then upgrading is more likely to be reliable. If you do get a working installation, I would still be very interested in tracking down the radeon modesetting trouble (e.g., by taking a snapshot of the screen with artifacts and recovering any log entries that appear before then).
