[Mike Gabriel] > The MINIMAL d-i profile for d-e machine installation does not install > NetworkManager by default. Due to this, the hostname will not be set > via DHCP automatically.
The original design is not to install NetworkManager to fix this, but to enable the /etc/init.d/update-hostname script calling /usr/bin/update-hostname-from-ip to update the hostname at boot time. NetworkManager were not used because it would only enable network connections when a user log in, and not at boot. NetworkManager were only installed on standalone and roaming workstation profiles in the original design.
