I've applied a patch to the subversion repository upstream. An incoming connection will now correctly try all available protocols. On my computer (with kernel 2.6.30, and localhost mentioned in /etc/hosts for 127.0.0.1 and ::1 netstat reports that the server is running on IPv4. The clients will connect correctly.
