Hi Patrick; Thanks for the suggestion. I think I need to find an approach that does not use .la files. Currently there is no libsmltk.la installed by the debian libsynthesis-dev package (debian policy 10.2 discourages .la files). I think this means the fix should go in syncevolution, rather than libsynthesis. There are also pkgconfig .pc files in libsynthesis (at least the debian package), so guess that might be another thing to investigate.
