That looks like #783541 which you recently reported, too.

Interestingly I've found no occurrence of git-buildpackage in
/etc/bash_completion.d/git-buildpackage outside comments. Didn't dig
deeper, though.

Works fine here:

→ gbp import-orig --uscan
gbp:info: Launching uscan...
gbp:error: Uscan failed: uscan warning: In debian/watch,
[...]

(That error is expected and package-specific.)

Sounds like a valid way to get an uptodate shell. So no idea here.
gbp's zsh completion as well as the above commmand work fine for me.
