Ntfsresize works based on the volume version but unconditionally sets 
VOLUME_MOUNTED_ON_NT4 to make chkdsk believe and fix potentially missed 
V3.x modifications. 

I'm not aware of such problem but that doesn't mean there can't be any. 
So you may or may not be right but me being over paranoid about reliability 
I stick to the latter for now. Though an explicit and official guarantee 
from Microsoft could change my standpoint.
