o It does not clutter the desktop with a GUI. Thus the author claims it is anti-GUI, but i don't find that a very intuitive description.
o It is composed of a backend and a frontend, and thus survive the killing of the current X session, which is rather nice.
So, in essence, it's a audio player daemon. Maybe a description along those lines?
