NO that's not true. The NT bootloader is there. As another member of the list mentioned, even the NT rescue disk would not help in such a case.
What you could do is to delete (under MSDOS) every file of this partion, except the system files: \boot.ini \autoexec.bat \boot.ini \bootsect.dos \command.com \config.sys \io.sys \msdos.sys \ntdetect.com \ntldr Then you could shrink this partition to a rather small one using fips and install linux in the free space in between. No need for PartitionMagic.
