While that's true, if we're going to be make the effort to make sure
such notifications are "trivially and automatically" visibe for NNF
users, it would be a waste if we didn't do it in such a way that people
who make only the slightest of modifications could benefit from it as well.

If we're making something GNOME-specific, we don't do that. If we make
an application that fits into any fdo-compliant notification area, we do.
