There's no need to panic, here. We will resolve the issue of an upstream in due course. The event that is occurring now, and triggered this thread, is not a change in the status of GTK2 upstream, but a likely change in the maintenance status of GTK2 within Debian. Nonetheless, with an improvement in the upstream situation, Debian will be better off.
