OK sorry for the long delay. I've found more time to spend on debian ia64 now!
This still fails on GCC-4.7.2(-4) and GCC-4.6.3(-12) with the native ia64 compiler. I'm having an issue with gdb currently. After that gets resolved, I'm going to dig into this and see if I can't get a patch or conversation with the gcc maintainers. Patrick
