Dear DebCamp participants and Go Team,

This is the 4th daily report for the Debian Go Team Sprint at
DebCamp26: Major Transitioning to Module-Aware Builds in our new
dh-golang tooling.

Thanks everyone for your incredible work, Phase 1 of our module-aware
builds transition is almost complete with the queue nearly cleared,
and we are officially moving into Phase 2.

Phase 2 focuses on transitioning the 502 packages waiting in
experimental to modern, module-aware builds using dh-golang (>=
1.66~). You can find the coordination page, package list, and tracking
data here:
  https://wiki.debian.org/DebConf/26/Sprints/DebianGoTeam/GoModBuilds

Important notice for maintainers of golang packages that ship
executable binaries:
If you maintain any of these golang packages that build an
executable binary, please test and rebuild your package in
experimental using dh-golang 1.66~exp2+ now. Ensuring that package
builds correctly under the modern module-aware tooling is a high
priority for this phase.

When working on these updates, please keep our core workflows in mind:
- Always ensure XS-Go-Import-Path in debian/control matches the module
path in upstream go.mod file. So that dh-golang may resolve the
mapping correctly.
- Handle backward compatibility for legacy paths by using symlinks in
your debian/golang-FOO-dev.links files, rather than listing multiple
XS-Go-Import-Path in the debian/control file. If the links cannot be
created for some reason. Build and upload the package into
experimental instead.

If you hit complex build failures, please check our MigrationFAQ
first, where we have documented solutions for common blockers like
double nesting directory:
  https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DebianGoTeam/MigrationFAQ

Whether you are here at DebCamp or participating remotely, please grab
your packages from the Phase 2 page and help us push this transition
through. We will continue coordinating work and onboarding new helpers
at our daily at 3 PM in the hacklab.

Happy hacking!

-Andrew
