Uploading a broken ghc6 causes me a lot of pain, as some manual
bootstrapping work on slow, remote machines is needed on any arches on
which it can no longer be installed and compile itself. I'm therefore
more cautious than one might be with other packages. Uploads also put
quite a hefty load on the buildds. And making and testing good quality
packages of large systems takes time!

FWIW, telling me, when I say
"Please let me know of any successes or problems.",
that you tried it and it worked is more likely to get it uploaded sooner
than just asking me to upload it. You can always downgrade again if you
need to use 6.6 later.

Thanks
Ian
