Whoa, take it a bit slower. I'm certainly not opposed to having a newer version of cabal packaged than what's included with ghc6, but have you fully thought about the implications of having two versions of it in Debian? Preferrably there would be only one version of Cabal around in Debian, even if the versions could coexist benignly. But that change would happen only after 6.10.x is packaged, at earliest. I suspect that getting ghc's upstream to include a newer version (if needed) might be the cleaner solution all around... Generally, Cabal is a central enough piece of the Haskell ecosystem to warrant rather close attention from me, in the role of ghc6's maintainer. I don't know about how this would affect hugs' side of things. On a related note, there's still a bunch of old bugs left open on http://bugs.debian.org/libghc6-cabal-dev from the time when it last used to be an independent package. Anyone up for a bit of triaging? _______________________________________________ debian-haskell mailing list [email protected] http://urchin.earth.li/mailman/listinfo/debian-haskell
