Neals guide is more uptodate, so the commands found in that guide should be used. Recently the bootstrapping changed a bit. Previously we used 'serverboot', which took care of starting the server for the root filesystem and the exec server. Therefore only serverboot was given as a multiboot module in Grub. Now, we can specify these servers as multiboot modules directly; serverboot isn't required anymore. moritz
So I suppose I am using and old bootstrapping, though I am using Debian Hurd H1 CDs, with 3.0.15.hurd-H , because if I boot for the first time with
root (hd0,5) kernel /boot/gnumach.gz -s root=hd0s6 module /hurd/ext2fs.static --multiboot-command-line=${kernel-command-line} module /lib/ld.so.1 /hurd/exec $(exec-task=task-create)
I've got stuck in ..... 2 multibbot modules task loaded /lib/ld.so.1 /hurd/exec
and if I press any key:
Kernel page fault at address 0x0, eip = 0x11ade8 Kernel Page fault trap, eip = 0x11ade8 kernel trap, type 14, code = 0 Dump of i386_saved_state 002a1ac0: EAX 002a20ac EBX 002a20ac ECX 00000000 EDX 002a20ac ESI 0029fb34 EDI 0029f564 EBP 002a1b04 ESP 002a1b34 CS 0008 SS 8899 DS 0010 ES 0010 FS 0000 GS 0000 v86: DS 0000 ES 20ac FS b241 GS b241 EIP 0011ade8 EFLAGS 00010293 trapno 14: Page fault, error 00000000 panic trap
but with
kernel /boot/gnumach.gz -s root=hd0s6 module=/boot/serverboot.gz
I can boot the system.
TIA,

Note: kernel /boot/gnumach.gz -s root=device:hd0s6 doesn't work for me, it is taken from Neal's instructions.
