Yes, this is probably part of the libata transition.  The right way to
do this is probably to use filesystem labels for bootup, rather than
hard conding device names.  I don't think that can be done
automagically, so this may just have to be documented in release notes.

That looks to me like it decided your drive was UDMA/100 and configured
for it correctly.  What makes you say it didn't enable dma?
