Debian very easily *can* take the position that filename limitations violate the DFSG, because it is a limitation on modification not explicitely allowed by DFSG#4. (I agree with the line of thought that it shouldn't be allowed at all; "how inconvenient it is" is an ugly bag of worms, best avoided.) If you're actually saying that Debian isn't *permitted* to take that position, you'll need to explain further. Debian is well within its rights to interpret its own guidelines. -- Glenn Maynard
