RFP means "someone else please do this", you need to file an RFS if you're
actively looking for a sponsor and want to package/maintain the package
yourself.

  https://mentors.debian.net/sponsors/rfs-howto/

RFP is more of a +1 vote on this software being useful, which can be useful
to convince people it should be in Debian. However I'm not aware of any DDs
actively watching those bugs for things to work on.

It also looks like you didn't CC debian-devel (sending to debian-science
instead) on the ITP as per devref
https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.html#new-packages
that's usually how DDs outside of debian-mentors learn about new
(potentially interesting) packages.

In the future you might consider CC'ing debian-mentors on ITPs you want
sponsored anyway, just in case some mentors aren't subscribed to
d-devel. Alternatively including the elaborate description from the ITP in
the RFS is a good idea too. CC'ing a more focused list like d-science in
the ITP/RFS isn't a bad idea either.

tl;dr: more CCs == more better. Just don't go too crazy.
