I'm not sure talking about "the project" makes much sense in this case, but that's just a minor issue. You're certainly correct that there's a resource problem, and it is terribly hard to find AMs, and even harder to find good AMs (who treat their NMs with respect, don't take ages, prepare good reports, etc). The thing I find interesting is that (it seems) few people who have complained about NM in the past actually got involved in NM when they became a DD and actively helped out as an AM. I'm not saying that you'll be like this... but it would be interested to dig through the archives, find those people who boasted they'd help and then never did... unfortunately I don't really have time to do this. Well, you're certainly not going to be added as FD or DAM straight away; however, becoming an AM is fairly easy once you're a DD. As a rule of thumb we have a rule that says that new DDs should wait about 6 months before becoming AMs (so they can become more familiar with the project), but for people with a really good track record that can always be relaxed. For now, quite honestly, I'd just relax a bit, and work on the stuff in Debian you're interested in. You're currently waiting for the FD to read your report. [1] I cannot remember off hand where this was but if it was only on debian-private then this was quite unfortunate since NMs should've been told. Anyway, now you know and it's April anyway.
