I'd really appreciate it if somebody could spend some time reviewing this diff this weekend. (this email probably takes longer to read than the diff I guess...). I'm not sure what the schedule for the next point release is (last I heard was late Sep), but this thing is sitting around built, tagged locally, and signed since 10 days. There's also at least one downstream user of the 1.4 series, and I'd prefer to avoid needless divergence there (there is at least a second one, but not sure if they want to do updates or not).
