Fixing the libkml issue in gdal turned out to be much less time consuming than expected. A couple of hours ago I uploaded libkml (1.3.0~rc0-3) to unstable which adds the boost, expat & zlib dependencies to libkml-dev, it has not been accepted into the archive at time of writing yet. I've also prepared a new gdal upload for experimental that includes a patch to add pkg-config support for the new libkml, and added the libkml symbol to the common symbols file again. Due to the requirement of the libkml (1.3.0~rc0-3) changes, I've not uploaded gdal (1.11.2+dfsg-1~exp7) yet. I'll do that soon after the libkml upload is accepted.
