Has anyone successfully used the installer in: dists/woody/main/disks-s390/3.0.12-2001-08-21
to install Debian under Hercules? Since recent kernels no longer seem to recognize my emulated DASD volume, I decided to start from scratch. The system IPLs successfully, and I can poke around in the rescue ramdisk, but when I attempt to format the DASD, I get a kernel oops: [...] --->> ATTENTION <<--- All data in the specified range of that device will be lost. Type "yes" to continue, no will leave the disk untouched: .yes yes Formatting the device. This may take a while (get yourself a coffee). Segmentation fault # Linux (none) 2.4.5-s390 #1 SMP Wed Aug 1 19:21:20 CEST 2001 s390 unknown ... I just replaced the kernel with the one from kernel-image-2.4.7-s390, and now it seems to be working. So as long as the next release of s390 boot-floppies uses kernel 2.4.7, it should be fine. -- - mdz
