I discovered the same thing about 2 months ago. see Bug#93131 (Not the
first message, I attached my report to an existing bug that initially
looked like the same problem...). I suspect some sort of glibc/pthreads
lossage, but since I cannot debug a pthreaded app with gdb on sparc, I
have not been able to make any progress tracking this down.
