Yes, a SunBlade 1000 should work fine. In fact, anything that is UltraSPARC
or newer should be supported. I have a SunBlade 100 myself which runs
Debian sparc64 fine. Although it's not the fastest machine with 500 MHz,
of course.

I suggest using this image so the bootloader that gets installed
is GRUB instead of SILO:
