I'd suggest trying to recreate the problem with either 2.4.17 or 2.4.18-pre1 without the preempt patch. If the problem persists, it's a kernel problem and you should report it to the linux-kernel mailing list (see REPORTING-BUGS in the kernel source tree). Erik -- J.A.K.
