I have kernel-source 2.0.29 installed, and the date in
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/pci.h is 1994, so it doesn't seem to be
being kept up to date. This AIUI only affects the warnings, and has little
to do with what the kernel can actually drive.

I had NCR 875 SCSI cards supplied with two of my new machines, and the
Debian 1.2 installation disks, and my 2.0.27 kernel, would not handle
them. To check out that they were going to be supported, I got the
patches from club-internet.fr and applied them, which did the trick.

Then Debian 1.3 came out, and I installed the 2.0.29 kernel which also
handles these cards. However, the date in the file
/usr/src/linux/crivers/scsi/README.ncr53c8xx is 12 June 1995,
whereas the patches I had tried came with the version dated 20 March 1997,
which contains 50% more information.
