Hmm. Yes, it seems that some don't understand that debian-user is meant for the current stable tree, and debian-devel is meant for work on or problems with the current unstable tree. I refuse to suggest renaming the lists. Perhaps http://www.debian.org/support.html should include something to this effect -- I note that debian-devel isn't listed there... IMO all the publicly-available lists should be there, with a GOOD description of what each is for. Your suggestions for how to get a good response from a help message were excellent.
